The majority of my creations involves the upcycling and/or recycling old, solid wood furniture and giving it a new lease of life. Or creating new wonderful and unique items, for the home or garden, out of reclaimed solid wood and pallets. Such items include (but are not limited to) fence post tealight holders, pallet wood wall clocks, rustic scaffold board shelves, signs and much, much more.
There are various processes I use to produce these creations, but I predominantly use Yakisugi to bring out the wood grain. This process gives each piece a natural, unique and aesthetically pleasing contrast between the harder, resinous parts and softer, non-resinous parts of the wood. This process works best on woods with a wide grain, such as pine, cedar and cypress.
Other processes can include pyrography, electroforming and the use of resins, which all depends up on the creation.
I also convert old, disused music speaker and amplifier cases and turn them into music-inspired furniture and furnishings, whilst keeping that gig gear aesthetic. These items go towards reducing any potential waste from my Cab Conversions range, detailed below.

Elegant Profanity is the name given to a range of homeware items, with a cheeky, risqué twist.
If you want something naughty, yet fun, to brighten up your home or garden, then this is the perfect range of décor for you.

My high school art teacher once told me I had, (and I quote) “absolutely no colour sense, whatsoever” (unquote), which was nice. But, that less than motivational statement has never stopped me from being artistic. I don’t get the urge (or inspiration) to paint very often and the only drawing I do is for design work, but every now and again I’ll create a piece. So, keep a lookout for when I do.
I do, however, have an eye for photography, with a specific focus (haha! No pun intended) on High Dynamic Range [HDR] and long exposure photography. These work best with landscapes and inanimate objects (I don’t shoot portraits and/or weddings) and some of my work, that I’ve mounted or printed onto canvas, is available for purchase.

As a gigging musician (in a previous incarnation), I spent seven years (on and off) touring pubs and nightclubs, up and down the UK, with a melodic rock/metal band. So, I know all too well the trials and tribulations of lugging heavy and very expensive equipment to and from venues. Especially with the typical inclement weather of the UK. Keeping the electronics and those speaker cones dry is imperative. Also, are the handles ever in the best place, when you need to navigate the narrow corridors at the back of seedy clubs to get your gear in? (Spoiler Alert: No!)
It’s rare that any of the amp and speaker cab manufacturers supply any form of weather protection for their gear (especially for free), and the third part vinyl covers are (at best) inadequate. The stadium bands have flight cases built to enclose their gear. This is impractical for the local gigging musicians, as this just adds to the bulkiness and weight of the gear. Not helpful, when you only have a tiny hatchback as transport.
This led me to design and build my own bass speaker rig (The Big Red Rig), directly into custom built flight cases. It sports multiple handles in different positions for all loading and moving situations. It also has wheels, but more importantly, a lid to protect those precious speaker cones.
